The Leicester Montessori Grammar School
Introduction

The Leicester Montessori School was founded in 1990, the Grammar School in the early part of 1997. The School is located at 58 Stoneygate Road in Leicester, and enjoys a large building and excellent facilities.

Staff are present to receive a child from 8.00am, with the school day starting at 8.55am, to finish at 4.00pm. After-school activities are conducted from 4.00 to 5.30pm, at no extra charge. The school is open throughout the year, except on designated Bank Holidays, and for a period of approximately seven days at Christmas.

The Grammar School also operates an optional accelerated curriculum where some students may study at a level of up to three years in advance of the national average.

All students follow a balanced curriculum, covering the National Curriculum Core and Foundation subjects, Religious Studies, French and Spanish. The school encompasses a policy where the students undertake the SATS and GCSE course work at an average of three years in advance of the National average, with over 90% of students aiming to undertake GCSE examinations in Mathematics, English and Science, between the ages of twelve and fifteen.

The National Curriculum Programmes of Study are covered and appropriate levels attained. One of the fundamental principles of the Grammar school is to provide the students with an advanced learning environment, which is aided by a policy of having a small class-to-staff ratio.
Expert tuition is given by qualified tutors, in all areas of the curriculum.

It is a requirement of the School that all pupils wear the proper uniform.
"We must support as much as possible the child's desires for activity; not wait on him, but educate him to be independent." Dr. Maria Montessori
